About the Opportunity:
Odyssey Space Research, LLC has an opportunity for full-time experienced Safety Systems Engineer to support the Lunar Terrain Vehicle program in Houston, Texas. In this role you will support training development and delivery for ground-based flight control teams and astronaut crews to prepare them for lunar surface missions. Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services (LTVS) is a human-class rover that will extend the exploration range of Artemis crew members on the surface of the Moon. Mobility will enable the humans to traverse greater distances to better explore the Lunar Surface and make scientific discoveries and build the future of lunar development. LTVS will also provide for uncrewed autonomous exploration. Odyssey Space Research provides key support in the development, training, and operation of the LTVS system.
Job Description:
Safety engineers develop an overall understanding of the vehicle and vehicle operation and ensure hazards are identified, understood, and mitigated across the vehicle and within an integrated Artemis system. This is a key role in ensuring the safe operation of the LTV and the success of the Artemis missions. Experienced and new hire positions are available for this role.
Candidates are expected to have experience and be proficient with:
- Ensuring safety plans follows NASA safety standards and identifies a system for managing safety risks by identifying, characterizing, communicating, and mitigating hazards to eliminate, reduce, or control the hazard.
- Performing safety and hazard analysis of the vehicle, test vehicles and vehicle operations
- Identifying vehicle hazards and hazard classifications
- Ensuring hazard controls are defined, implemented and verified
- Supporting safety review panels for the flight and test vehicles
- Supporting integrated hazard analysis with other Artemis programs.
- Supporting reliability prediction analysis understanding anticipated failures and failure modes
- Interfacing with NASA and corporate partners.
