orion_eft1patch01-lgDecember 5, 2014: The Lockheed Martin Orion spacecraft has completed its first test flight, known as Exploration Flight Test 1 (EFT-1). Orion was launched atop a United Launch Alliance Delta-4 Heavy on a trajectory that took it approximately 3600 miles above the earth and concluded with a 20,000 mph high-energy re-entry.

Odyssey engineers performed real-time support of the mission as part of the Engineering Support Team at Lockheed Martin facilities in Denver, interfacing with both Lockheed Martin and NASA during the nearly 5 hour mission. Odyssey’s support of Orion’s development covered a multitude of areas: simulation development and support; integrated hardware and software labs development, test, and support; and flight software verification. Congratulations to the entire Orion team on a successful mission!
